Disintegration Characteristics Investigation of Carbonaceous Shale in High-Latitude Cold Regions

To investigate the disintegration and microstructure characteristics of carbonaceous shale in high-latitude cold regions, indoor, outdoor, initial particle size, freeze–thaw experiments were conducted concerning dry–wet cycles. Two tests performed: sieving microscopic scanning electron analysis. The disintegration, size variation rule, resistance, fractal studied. variations rock before after water immersion compared, mechanism calving was discussed. results show that: (1) is basically achieved eight cycles, concentrated at 2 mm~10 mm; (2) temperature cycle conditions accelerated rate shortened stability time shale; (3) there a negative correlation between resistance index disintegrating dimension shale, can be indirectly characterized by fractional dimension; (4) contains two hydrophilic clay particles, kaolinite montmorillonite, difference lattice expansion adsorbed film, mineral dissolution are main factors leading to rock.
